Week Topic Session Goal

1

Our first night is 'Getting to Know You' night and
an introduction to the program.

 
2 What's Happening to My Family? To help children find comfort and relief from the anxiety of what is happening to their families.
3 God Loves Children in All Kinds of Families To assist the children in realizing that everyone's family situation is different and to help each family develop a single parent home.
4 Facing My Anger To help the children to recognize angry feelings and know how to deal with these feelings in a healthy and acceptable way.
5 Journey from Anger to Sadness to acquaint the children with the sadness phase of grief in the divorce process and to help them learn how to process this in a healthy emotional way.
6 I am Not Alone To help the children realize they are not alone and that there are people, including a Heavenly Father, who care about them and love them.
7 God's Plan for Me To give the children hope and comfort in knowing that God always loves them and will meet all their needs.
8 Developing New Relationships To help children realize their relationships with Mom and Dad and others are different since the divorce and to help them learn to develop new relationships.
9 Developing Money Smarts To help the children understand various aspects of budgeting and spending that will help them and their families.
10 It's Not My Fault To communicate to the children that divorce is an adult problem between the two parents and that it is not their fault.
11 Telling My Parents How I Feel To show the children how to go to their parents and talk about how they feel about various situations in and honest, yet respectful manner.
12 Forgiveness To help children understand what forgiveness is and how to forgive others.

Forgiveness Part 2
14 Loving My Parents To educate the children that their parents still love them and to help them express love to their parents.
15 Moving On: Growing UP and Closer to God To assist children in realize that life goes on after divorce and their futures can be healthy and happy.
